Growing Britain

Growing Food · Growing Communities · Growing Resilience

A community-led movement helping people restore neglected spaces, grow their own food, learn enduring skills and build local resilience, from the ground up.

The Opportunity

The challenges are connected. So are the solutions.

Across Britain, several pressures are converging at once: food insecurity, biodiversity loss, the rising demands of climate resilience, a weakening connection to nature, and growing strain on public health.

Growing Britain offers a practical, community-led response. It helps people restore neglected spaces, grow their own food, learn enduring skills, and build local resilience from the ground up. The idea grew from a personal experience. Its purpose is deliberately broader: to create solutions any community can use.

Our vision: communities where growing food, restoring nature, environmental education and local capability become everyday parts of community life.

Our Five-Year Ambition

From one community to a national movement

Our Roots

It starts in Doncaster

Growing Britain begins where it was planted. Our first campaign, Support, Don't Punish, works constructively with Doncaster Council for fair, supportive allotment management, proving locally what we intend to grow nationally. Win the specific fight first. Then share what works with every community.

“Sometimes the most positive movements begin with the most difficult experiences. Growing Britain exists to turn challenge into opportunity.” Vanessa Aradia, Founder, Growing Britain · Work Smart, Live Well

An Invitation

How can people be equipped to succeed?

That's the question we ask instead of asking only how standards should be enforced. Growing Britain invites government, local authorities, community groups, schools, businesses and volunteers to work together towards healthier, greener and more resilient communities.

Communities & volunteers

Join a local growing project, share your skills, or start something new where you live. Every plot, orchard and garden strengthens the movement.

Councils & schools

Partner with us on fair allotment practice, edible public spaces and outdoor learning. We bring evidence, toolkits and goodwill.

Businesses & universities

Sponsor tools and materials, support research, or lend expertise. Local backing turns good ideas into growing places.
